      <image:title>Music - AUGUST 16. FRUIT BATS (USA)</image:title>
<image:caption>Over the course of his now 25-year career under the moniker Fruit Bats, most of Eric D. Johnson’s output has been the product of patience and fine-tuning. His songs, to borrow a phrase, are slow growers, given life on albums that encompass long stretches of time and memory. Most recently here in Australia mid 2025 touring with his other project Bonny Light Horseman, we’re excited to welcome Eric back. This time enjoying a library of Fruit Bats classics as well as an array of new songs from his soon to be released record ‘The Landfill’. <image:title>Music - THURSDAY 29th OCTOBER. #1 Dad’s #1 Dads is the solo project of Tom Iansek, a valuable, proudly independent fixture of the Australian music scene for over two decades as one half of the multi-award-winning Big Scary and No Mono, and an in-demand producer (Maple Glider, Kate Miller-Heidke, The Paper Kites, Ruby Gill, Lisa Mitchell, and more). Animated by intimate, understated arrangements and lyrical honesty, #1 Dads is a perfect introduction to Iansek’s sonic authenticity and rich, rewarding music. His gentle melodies and less-is-more production make for homely yet sophisticated pop songs that have seen the Australian-born, London-based artist become an unassuming cult favourite, beloved by fans and critics alike. Debuting as #1 Dads with 2011’s Man of Leisure, Iansek further showcased his sincere, quietly innovative songcraft with 2014’s ARIA-nominated About Face and 2020’s Golden Repair. Born of a period of dramatic upheaval, Every Little Fire is the Melbourne-bred, London-based artist’s most deeply personal record. Every Little Fire, the fourth #1 Dads album, is due October 16 via Pieater. The record arrives six years after Golden Repair and follows a period of profound personal upheaval—a transatlantic relocation, a growing family, and the particular vertigo of dismantling one life and building another from scratch. "It was not an easy thing to do," Iansek says. "It has been an insane, wonderful, chaotic, intense and joyful period of my life." Every Little Fire, in both title and execution, takes that turbulence seriously. Produced and mixed by Iansek himself in small rooms, including a DIY bedroom studio, Every Little Fire reflects the conditions of its making. Imperfections were left in: longer, unvarnished takes; tempo fluctuations; breaths. The result is an album that sounds handmade in the best sense—intimate without being precious, and honest without being confessional for its own sake.</image:title>

      <image:title>Music - November 5. way dynamic</image:title>
<image:caption>Way Dynamic, the project of Melbourne songwriter Dylan Young, shares his new single ‘Officially’. The song is included on the first-ever international release of the album Massive Shoe, out on 2 Oct via Jagjaguwar, which also features the recent BBC 6 Music playlisted single ‘Miffed It’. ‘Officially’ is released ahead of Way Dynamic’s upcoming UK, Ireland and North American tour. "I wrote ‘Officially’ the week I met my girlfriend, so it really is a shamefully joyous love song,” Dylan explains. Part delirious and part lament, he continues, “But it also contends with the downside of being addicted to someone - I am a very compulsive person." It’s a jubilant number that enhances Massive Shoe’s take on relationships squandered and flourishing.... Massive Shoe is Way Dynamic’s playful and understated, luminous and textured third album, originally released on Spoilsport Records. It’s minimalist folk-pop, art rock and baroque pop, produced and largely played by Young, who moonlights in Melbourne’s beloved Cool Sounds and Good Morning and has played drums with Snowy Band and Kankawa Nagarra. It’s tempting to only compare these songs to those of yesteryear – Young’s falsetto, his ear for harmonies and the intricate arrangements all feel timeless. But there’s a sensibility, a turn of phrase, that feels deeply contemporary: it’s telling that Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield described ‘Miffed It’ as her “favourite song in a VERY long time”, and Katie, MJ Lenderman, This is Lorelei and Black Country New Road have all taken Way Dynamic on tour, while Sir Elton John said that he “just cannot stop listening” to ‘Ibiza’. Young’s songs don’t shy away from sentiment, or equally from silliness: on any given song he might suggest a flight to space or earnestly lament a miscommunication. “Can we walk and talk as well?” he asks on ‘I Was the Dancer’, and we rush to accept the invitation. <image:title>Music - NOVEMBER 19. BANGALOW OFF-SITE w/ FLYTE (UK)</image:title>
<image:caption>Flyte (UK) is the project of English songwriters Will Taylor and Nick Hill. The pair met at secondary school, eventually settling in Hackney, London. Taylor’s parents were both English teachers and inevitably, various literary influences trickled into the duo’s music- the band taking it’s name from Sebastian Flyte of Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited. To make their fourth album, Between You and Me, Flyte—Will Taylor and Nick Hill—set out to return to something raw and instinctual. Just weeks before joining legendary producer Ethan Johns (Paul McCartney, Laura Marling, Ray LaMontagne) in his rural studio, the duo began writing at a small window table in Taylor’s North East London flat. They wanted to see what would happen if they didn’t overthink their songs, if they simply sang about their lives in the moment—candid reflections on love, fallibility, and staying vulnerable. They didn’t fuss over demos or arrangements; they just wanted to capture the feelings. They knew Johns thrived on intuition, so they let that sensibility guide them from the beginning. The result, Between You And Me, is the most affecting and singular album in Flyte’s discography, a stirring and recognizable map of what it means to come of age as musicians, friends, and people. It suggests just how much one can grow, sprouting even from the darker corners of our existence. Presented by Jet Black Cat Music. <image:title>Music - NOVEMBER 25 . YIN YIN (NED)</image:title>
<image:caption>Dutch groove explorers YĪN YĪN have announced their first ever Australian shows, bringing their highly anticipated fourth album, Yatta! to Mullumbimby. Fresh off a global run that’s taken them through festivals like Fuji Rock Festival and North Sea Jazz Festival, the Maastricht quartet continue to build on a sound that pulls from disco, funk, psychedelia and Southeast Asian influences, all grounded by an irresistible, steady groove. Yatta! is described as their most cohesive work yet. The album leans into Italo disco textures, warped guitar lines and club-ready rhythms, while still offering moments for deeper, more introspective listening. It is a record crafted equally for dancing and for getting lost in the music. Over the past few years, YĪN YĪN earned a reputation as an essential live act, consistently playing to packed venues across Europe, Asia, and the US. This upcoming Australian tour marks their exciting return, featuring both their celebrated new material and a deeper dive into their expansive catalogue. Don’t miss your chance to catch YĪN YĪN on their first Australian tour. Presented by Jet Black Cat Music. Bar and food by us!</image:caption>
