Local lad and down-right funny character Graeme Stockdale has made quite a name for himself in the Northern Rivers region for his appreciation of local farmers, growers and suppliers, and their high quality produce.

"Chef's in some of the bigger cities would be crying out to have access to the products that we can find just down the road" Graeme says. And it's true, we are spoilt - tomatoes from Coopers Shoot, Macademia nuts from neighbouring farms, cheese from Nimbin, greens from Booyong, free range poultry from Bangalow and Alstonville, meat from Bexhill Butchers and the list goes on.

Graeme and his young family farm chickens and ducks, and "keep on putting in more veggie patches" on their block at Bexhill. Vegetable patches have now been put into the garden at the rear of Eltham Pub, so we can start growing our own herbs and produce, and scraps from our kitchen go to our happy chickens.

Teamed with Graeme's inate passion for cooking and inspiring others, the end result is a 'feel good' menu with fresh, colourful dishes in keeping with the seasons. Along with his team of chefs, apprentices and kitchen hands, Graeme aims to produce a menu where everything from stocks to sauces and desserts to dressings are made on premises.

Local folk might recognise Gray from Utopia in Bangalow, where he spent five years as Head Chef, and more recently at Tommy's in Lismore.

Give him a wave and say 'hello' when you see him around our little country pub - he's unusually friendly!

Our ethos is to buy fresh, seasonal produce that is sourced from local farmers and suppliers in our area. We even pick fresh herbs from our own veggie patch.

We support local businesses, low food miles and use the best produce that each season provides.

Graeme and his team cook with a great deal of pride and we hope you enjoy the experience and our country hospitality.
